My Thoughts

Is Traffic Takeover illegal? Unethical? Black hat?

A few days ago, I received review access to this software.

And I wanted to address the obvious question that I had when I first read the sales page?

“Is this illegal, or unethical, or black hat?”

Hmm. I had to spend lots of time watching videos and thinking about that, and I’m glad I did.

First, if it was doing what the sale page implies (at least the preview that I originally saw, which I was promised would be lightened up a bit), then it would probably be illegal.

After all, you can’t really take over a site like cnn.com and hijack all their traffic. (wouldn’t that be nice?)

Traffic Takeover certainly doesn’t do that, but it is VERY powerful.

It allows you to send traffic anywhere you want, and then follow those visitors, and encourage them to take actions that might be favorable to you.

Like sign up to your email list (even if they are going from a current list of yours, you might want to get them onto a different segmented list, like for example to a traffic list if they had clicked on a traffic-oriented link).

Or you could engage with them with Facebook Messenger to offer tips.

Or there’s lots of other choices.

So illegal? No.

Black hat? Well… maybe gray hat.
